Saint Michael House of Prayer began as a prayer band in the home of the late Mother Daisy Bedford early in the year of 1980 led the late Archbishop Willa V Hill.

By August of 1980, the prayer band had grown to 15 members and was officially charted the Saint Michael House of Prayer Nondenominational Church. As Rev. Willa Hill continued to follow the path that God had set for her, always giving ear to the voice of the Lord, the ministry began to flourish and the congregation grew.

When People enter our sanctuary and see things that might appear a little different or maybe even a bit strange to them, they often ask, “What do you do here?” Our answer is, “We preach Jesus. We reach sinners. We exalt the Savior because of his goodness, grace and mercy. We equip the Saints for battle with the devil and his demons here on earth and we evangelize the lost that they might realize that God loves them regardless of their sin and that they too can be saved if they desire to.

We look forward to many, many, many more years to come in the work of the Gospel.

Willa Veona Beatrice Hill was born in Forrest City, Arkansas on June 8, 1936 to Ms. Mittie Hill and Mr Jack Dawson both of whom have preceded her in death. She realized the presence of God in her life at age 9 and attended church regularly with her Grandmother the late Mrs Mattie Hill. In 1960 she united herself with the Holy Trinity Non-Sectarian Temple under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles Joseph Hawkins, PhD 33. There, she began her spiritual training and served as President of the Missionary Board, sergeant at arms and Worthy Matron of the OES lodge associated with that church until late in the year of 1971.

In the middle of the year of 1980, she was led by the Holy Spirit to begin a prayer band that in 1981 was chartered as the Saint Michael’s House of Prayer Nondenominational Church and there she served as pastor for twenty-one years. During the course of her tenure as pastor of Saint Michael’s House of Prayer Nondenominational Church, Reverend Hill continued to feel the yoke of an even higher calling, and in September of 1987 she was consecrated Archbishop by the late Archbishop Barbara Williams, prelate of the Association of Christian Spiritual Churches Incorporated.

She continued to pastor the flock that God had given her until the summer of 2002 when her health began to fail. She continued to serve as overseer of the church until she departed this life on April 20, 2005. Archbishop Willa Hill was a woman of great faith who accomplished great things. She stood against the grain of provincial minded clergy who denied the fact that God had and still does call women to preach the Gospel and shepherd His flock.

In the summer of 2000, that our founder and former pastor, the Late Archbishop Willa V. Hill, decided to abdicate her position when her health began to fail and immediately named her son, The Right Reverend Anthony Q. Hill, as her successor.

His own personal mission as a bishop being to love the Lord and serve Him in accordance with the Word and Spirit of God, to work for the salvation and sanctification of God, to work for the salvation and sanctification of God’s people, and to implement God’s vision for His Church. Archbishop Hill labors endlessly toward this achievement.
